Kenneth
Wheeler
Oct 3, 1950 — Sep 28, 2026
Burnsville, NC
Kenneth Duane Wheeler, 75, of Burnsville, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, September 28, 2026, following a short illness.
Born on October 3, 1950, Ken was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He spent much of his life in Asheboro, NC, where he worked as a chip salesman for Frito-Lay. Upon his retirement, he moved back to his childhood home in Burnsville to help care for his mother during her battle with Alzheimer's. More than anything, Ken loved spending time with his family, whether they were enjoying beach vacations together or simply connecting through his daily check-in calls. It would be an understatement to say that Ken adored his family. He was also a loyal friend to many, always eager to help those in need, and lived life to the fullest with a vibrant and lively spirit. In his later years, Ken’s heart opened toward the things of God, and he found peace in professing his faith in Jesus.
Ken is survived by his son, Curt, and his daughter-in-law, Gina, whom he loved as a daughter; his grandchildren, Abbey Kees (John), Kage Wheeler, Jed Wheeler, and Gideon Wheeler; his great-grandchildren, Eloise and Caspian Kees; his sister, Margie Arrowood; his brother, Gene Wheeler (Audrey); his nephew, Terry Gene Wheeler; his niece, Melissa Lassen; and his great-niece, Emma Garner (Cole).
He was preceded in death by his father, Loyd, and mother, Clara Belle, as well as his brother, Loyd Edward, who passed away during childbirth.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on October 3 at the Higgins Free Will Baptist Church fellowship hall, 170 Hawk Branch Rd., Burnsville. The family would like to say a special thank you to Higgins Church for their overwhelming kindness during this difficult time.
Poppa you will be deeply missed!
