Kristi May Greene Simmonds, 45, of Bakersville, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at her residence.

     Kristi was born in Spruce Pine, NC, on August 1, 1980, to Larry and Cathy Greene. She was married to her husband of 16 years, Nigel Simmonds, and was a member of Plum Branch Baptist Church. Kristi was a Registered Nurse and was recently inducted into the North Carolina Nurse Honor Guard. She was very selfless and brave, as she dedicated her life to the service of others. She was very compassionate and always had a smile on her face. Most of all, Kristi was a devoted wife and mother. She will always be loved and remembered.

     Kristi was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Herbert and Jennie Greene; her maternal grandfather, Joseph Dale; and a great nephew, Cohen Scoles.

     Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Nigel Simmonds; her parents, Larry and Cathy Greene; her maternal grandmother, Billie June Dale; three children, Mitchell Hughes, Natalia Simmonds, and Amanda Simmonds; three sisters, Teri Stewart, Jacki Bullard (Tony), and Misty Dotts (Jeremy); eight nieces, Millicent McKinney (Cody), Faith Whitson, Emma Scoles (Tucker), Mackenzie Engle (Alex), Elizabeth Dotts, Kayle Barrett (Nate), Ella Dotts, and Jornai Snodgrass; a nephew, Anthony Solis; four great nieces, Melodi, Kaliope, Arabella, and Jessie; and four great nephews, Ryder, Jackson, Jacob, and Jackson.

     A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Plum Branch Baptist Church. Pastor Stacey Elkins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the Church.
