Richard Wayne Moody, age 86, of 747 Pancake Road in Plumtree, passed away Monday, October 26, 2026 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.

Born on May 8, 1940 in Avery County, he was the son of the late Oscar and Artha Greene Moody. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evie Sue Moody who passed away earlier this year. Also preceding him in death was his sister, Ann Lee Taylor and her husband, Blaine.

Richard loved spending time with his family more than anything else. He also enjoyed hunting, riding 4-wheelers, and reminiscing and talking about the past. He was a Christmas tree farmer and landscaper. He looked forward to going to the Christmas Tree Lot each year, selling Christmas Trees and talking to his customers and friends. He was also looking forward to seeing his wife in heaven.

Left to cherish his memories is his daughter; Thresia Riddle and husband, Raymond, his son; Rick Moody and wife, Sharon, five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held later and announced.

The services for Mr. Moody have been entrusted to Beam Tri-County Funeral Service.
